This year, the "Showcases for Design“ are two connected former department stores in the city's center. In the immediate vicinity to Leipzig´s central station and the Leipzig opera house, they offer an ideal space for the festival. 160 running meters of shop windows and altogether 2000m² of adjacent exhibition space (plus basement) are announced the design forum and thus the center of the Designers`Open 2008.

Within a distance of about 100 metres from the Striped Houses additional space for activities will be provided. The main post office („Hauptpost“ at Augustusplatz square) will for its part accommodate the three-day program of accompanying events as well as the DO/Night on Friday evening.

The former Hotel de Pologne will accommodate the Fashion Show as the kick-off event of the Designers' Open 08, Walk on Air , as well as the DO/Night on Saturday evening.
